Although his winning percentage is impressive his retention rate is even more so. At the high school level coach Brandt showed his ability to reach and teach students as he earned the distinction of “Honor Faculty” 5 consecutive years at Cesar Chavez High School. His programs constantly performed at the Championship Level as proven by them placing in the top 15 teams 15 consecutive years in a row. He was a part of the coaching staff on 2 State Champion Football teams while coaching (Head & assistant) on teams that made the playoffs in 14 out of his 18 years of coaching high school football. In all sports he developed kids that went on to play at every level of college athletics (DI, DII, DII, NAIA & JUCO).
“The ability to find and sign student-athletes that fit the college and the mentality of both my program and the institution is critical to success. You see, you can’t build sustainability with low participation, low retention and minimal buy-in to your philosophy. You also can’t HOPE these things will be there when your athletes arrive on campus – having the right recruiting PLAN is essential.”
“Coaching at the high school level is a different animal now than even just 10 years ago. The expectations from parents, society and administration have never been higher. The big difference is the student-athlete and their communication style. When coaches realize how productive they can be when their athletes “get them” the light bulb never goes off!”
If you are open to learning the concepts and processes that drove all of coach Brandt’s programs to success, no matter how you measure it, you will have success as well.
